On the 16th August, 1928, a single seater Siskin aircraft came down in flames to the west of the Syon Vista, Kew Gardens, during an aerial display. The damage to the plane was severe, and the wreckage burned for almost 30 minutes. The pilot escaped unharmed, landing by parachute on a roof in Beaumont Avenue, near the Lion Gate.
