Original illustration of Aloe mitriformis, from Curtiss Botanical Magazine, published as plate 1270, 1st March 1810. The currently accepted plant name is Aloe perfoliata, and is commonly known as mitre aloe. Watercolour and pencil on paper. Native of the Cape of Good Hope. This drawing was made at Salisburys Botanic Garden in Sloane Square.
Curtiss Botanical Magazine is the longest running botanical periodical featuring colour illustrations of plants and has been published continuously since 1787
