Watercolour on paper. Original drawing for plate XXIV in John Lindley's 'Sertum orchidaceum: a wreath of the most beautiful orchidaceous flowers; selected by John Lindley', published in 1838. Illustration shows study in sepia of leaves, flowers and roots. Also small drawing lower left of the flower lip, spur and ovary, a little magnified. According to Lindley's 'Sertum Orchidaceum', 'That which forms the subject of the present notice was originally discovered by Dr Wallich, whose manuscript notes are before me, and from one of whose drawings the accompanying plate has been prepared'.
