Oil on board, no date. According to the Official Guide to the North Gallery, 1892, The Bottle Tree of Queensland.- Beyond, a grass fire through which the artist and her companions had to gallop. The Bottle tree (Sterculia rupestris, Benth. syn. Delabechea rupestris, Lindl.) received its name on account of its singularly swollen trunk. It was first discovered by Sir. T. Mitchell on one of his expeditions into the interior of Queensland
