The seeds of Eriodendron anfractuosum, DC., are densely clothed with silky-white hair (Kapok), which is used to stuff pillows, &c.; in Java the trees themselves are used as telegraph posts, as the branches grow so conveniently at right-angles to the trunk that they do not interfere with the wires.
