Watercolour on paper. Original drawing for plate XXVII in John Lindley's Sertum orchidaceum: a wreath of the most beautiful orchidaceous flowers; selected by John Lindley, published in 1838. Illustration shows part monochromatic, part colour study of orchid leaves, flowers and roots, with small study of flower lower right. Inscribed in pencil across top edge, May 11, 1839 Messrs Loddiges No.803 La Gua[yra]'. Also inscribed in different hand on lower left edge, Rec'd Sept.15 1923
