Original illustration from Curtis s Botanical Magazine, published as plate 6124, 1st October 1874. Watercolour and pencil on paper. This species is a native of Madagascar and the Johanna Islands, " ...whence there are excellent specimens in the Hookerian Herbarium, from Mr Justice Blackburn, Dr Lyall and W.T. Gerrard" . The specimen here figured flowered at Kew in May 1874 from roots sent by William Wilson Saunders in 1872
