Original illustration from Curtis's Botanical Magazine, published as plate 6124, 1st October 1874. Watercolour and pencil on paper. This species is a native of Madagascar and the Johanna Islands, "...whence there are excellent specimens in the Hookerian Herbarium, from Mr Justice Blackburn, Dr Lyall and W.T. Gerrard". The specimen here figured flowered at Kew in May 1874 from roots sent by William Wilson Saunders in 1872
