Watercolour on paper, no date (late 18th, early 19th century). Hand painted copy of an illustration commissioned by William Roxburgh. In his 'Flora Indica', Roxburgh describes this species as an herbaceous climber, native of Bengal and of the warmer maritime parts of India. It blossoms around the beginning of the rainy season, and ripens its seed in July.
