Watercolour on paper, no date (late 18th, early 19th century). Hand painted copy of an illustration commissioned by William Roxburgh (1751-1815). In his Flora Indica, Roxburgh describes this species as a pretty large tree, native of the Carnatic. Roxburgh also reports that seeds of this species were sent from the Carnatic, to the Botanic garden at Calcutta, by Dr Berry, and that the plants reared from them flower in November and December, and ripen their seed in March
