Miss Cotton posing on the leaf of giant waterlily Kew Gardens, 1923
"Miss Cotton" posing on the leaf of giant waterlily Victoria amazonica, Kew Gardens, Richmond, Surrey, 1923. It is likely that she was the daughter of Arthur Cotton, keeper of Kew's herbarium and Library at this time. It is said the leaves of this species can support up to 45kg (7st) if the load is evenly distributed
